My Gun Projects
PPS 43 semi build
Started working on installing a floating firing pin in the pps 43 bolt yesterday. The fixed firing pin is replaceable and just retained by the extractor. Just compress the extract spring and the extractor should drop out and the firing pin will fall out of the front of the bolt.
The bottom of the hole is irregular as its split by the pocket for the extractor. I machined a piece of O-1 steel to .27 diam and pressed in the hole to support the bit , clamped the bolt in the 3 jaw chuck and then drilled the firing pin hole thru to the cross hole that the return sprin passes thru.
clamped the bolt in the milling vise with the rear of bolt upward then drilled a hole thru to the return spring pocket. I now have a bolt with a 5/32 hole thru it lengthwise, not really sure whats next. Thinking I might cut the rear 1.5" of the bolt off and use it as a striker. any thoughts greatly appreciated

here are a few more pics of the bolt,

here is the bushing pressed in the bolt face, I enlarged the hole for a depth of .4" creating a shoulder, then machined a bushing with .09 diam hole and pressed it firmly against the bottom of the hole in the bolt face. Shouldnt ever move as the shoulder will keep it from bieng pushed rearward.

You can see the .25" wide groove in the top of the bolt for the pin in the reciever that blocks insertion of the FAbolt

this pic show firing pin protrusion and the next is with the firing pin retracted
